A Jito tip is SOL you pay to a validator running Jito so it picks up your transaction or bundle. It sits on top of the normal priority fee, the minimum is 1000 lamports, and it does nothing on a validator that doesn't run Jito.

Both are ways of paying to go first. The priority fee is built into Solana. The tip is Jito's own auction, where bundles compete on tip size.

Jito's own example for a single transaction is a 70/30 split: 70% of what you want to spend as priority fee, 30% as tip. For a bundle, only the tip matters.
The minimum can be too low when everyone is buying the same thing. Your terminal's recommended setting is a better start than a number from a thread.

Axiom's tip-style field is Bribe, an extra payment to validators to put your transaction first, with a default of 0.001. Its Reduced MEV mode sends your transaction through Jito. Both sit in the settings panel with the priority fee: where they are.
