buying an nft on opensea with a wallet you funded from an exchange
Connect MetaMask on OpenSea, hold the gas token of the chain the NFT is on, and match the collection's contract before you click anything. Buy now is a purchase transaction you confirm in MetaMask and pay gas on. Make offer is a signature, paid in the chain's wrapped token, WETH on Ethereum, and nothing moves until a seller accepts.
the wallet and the gas
- Install MetaMask from MetaMask's own site. OpenSea connects it and most other browser wallets, and says to take the extension link from the provider's website.
- Connect it. On opensea.io, click Connect wallet, pick MetaMask and follow its prompts. Connecting can ask for a signature; OpenSea counts connecting among what a signature request authorises.
- Fund it on the NFT's chain. Gas is paid in the chain's own token: ETH on Ethereum, ETH on Robinhood Chain. OpenSea's gas-in-stablecoins option is for email-login wallets only, not MetaMask. From the exchange, withdraw that token on that network to your MetaMask address (the checks). For Robinhood Chain, that's ETH on Ethereum, bridged over.
find the chain the nft is on
OpenSea filters by chain, so MetaMask needs no chain switch to browse. Pick the chain in the filter; the collections view has one labelled Robinhood Chain. On an item, the About and Blockchain details tabs name the chain, the token ID and the contract.
OpenSea says checkout can also pay for an item on one chain with funds on another, without bridging, except for Blur listings.
check the collection
- The badge. A blue checkmark on a collection means it belongs to a verified account and has significant interest or sales. OpenSea says a badge is not an endorsement.
- The contract. Compare the contract on the item's Blockchain details tab with the address the project publishes on its own site. A name is free to copy; a contract isn't. The obvious URL can even be a dead page: one Robinhood Chain collection's is delisted, and the real one sits at another slug.
- The history. OpenSea's own advice: research the seller, the collection, the NFT and its history first, because on-chain transactions can't be reversed.
buy now is a transaction
Click Buy now on the item page. OpenSea shows a Checkout and hands MetaMask a transaction to buy at the listed price. You pay the price and the gas. It's final, and gas isn't refunded if the transaction fails. Read the MetaMask window, not only OpenSea's.
make offer is a signature
- On the item page, click Make offer.
- Fill in an amount using the chain's wrapped token, WETH on Ethereum, plus a duration: 30 days by default, 6 months at most.
- Click Review item offer, then sign in MetaMask.
The first offer in a new currency, like WETH, may ask for a one-off gas payment to enable it; offers after that are free. The offer is a bid a seller can fill later with nothing more from you. When one accepts, the seller pays the gas and the purchase is final. By default, cancelling costs no gas.
To get WETH: click your wallet balance at the top right of OpenSea, pick Swap, and swap ETH for it. That's a transaction and costs gas.
A collection offer is a single offer spanning an entire collection, and just one NFT can fill it.
telling them apart in metamask
| you click | MetaMask asks for | gas | what it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy now | a transaction | yes | buys at the listed price, final |
| Make offer | a signature | no, after the first one in that currency | a bid a seller can fill later |
| first offer in WETH | a transaction | once | lets that token fund offers |
| Swap to WETH | a transaction | yes | wraps ETH |
OpenSea says every signature request on it comes from Seaport, its trading contract, and never to sign a wallet request that an email prompted.
fees, as opensea publishes them
- OpenSea's fee is on the seller: typically 1% of a sale, already inside the price you see.
- Creator earnings, where enforced or where the seller includes them, come out of the price you pay, not on top.
- Gas goes to the network, not to OpenSea. The buyer pays it on Buy now, the seller when accepting an offer.
OpenSea states that its fees may change at any time and are determined when a listing or offer is placed. Check them at checkout, not here.
Where the money comes from before this step: from an exchange to on-chain.

How do I get crypto from an exchange onto Solana, Hyperliquid or Robinhood Chain?
Buy on the exchange, withdraw to your own wallet on the network your next stop uses, then trade there. SOL on Solana for Axiom, Photon or Jupiter. USDC on Arbitrum for Hyperliquid, unless the exchange sends there directly. ETH on Ethereum, then bridged, for Robinhood Chain.
the full answerHow do I send crypto from an exchange to my own wallet?
Copy the address from the wallet's receive screen and pick the network the wallet showed you, not the cheapest one. A memo is only for a receiving side that asks for one. Send a small amount first, then the rest.
the full answerHow do I bridge onto Robinhood Chain?
You need ETH on 4663 for gas even if you only want a token. Use the official bridge path, not a DM. Confirm on Blockscout for that chain.
Where do StonkBrokers trade?
Robinhood Chain, not Solana. OpenSea chain filter, or the project AMM. Not a buy call. If you cannot add 4663 you cannot buy it.
