where deposit is on hyperliquid

Deposit is a button on the Trade page, not a menu. With a wallet connected, it opens a window where you pick the asset and chain and enter an amount; an email login gets an address to send to instead. Hyperliquid first asks for a gas-free "Establish Connection" signature, and asks again in each new browser tab. You are not looking for a CEX-style Wallet menu three layers down, and there is nothing to find in settings.

what the deposit window actually accepts

USDC on Arbitrum, wallet connectedpick USDC and Arbitrum, enter the amount, click Depositthe window says a 0.2 USDC fee comes off

USDC goes straight in: from Arbitrum on a wallet connection, from any of four chains on an email login. The wallet window's chain list reads Arbitrum, Arbitrum (Legacy Bridge), Arbitrum (Swap USDT for USDC) and HyperEVM, with no Ethereum, Base or Polygon. Everything else in the table lands as the asset you sent, and you still have a sell to do before it is collateral. That sell is the step people miss when the perp balance reads zero.

Hyperliquid's Trade page, signed in: callout on the Deposit button above Withdraw in the account panel, balances masked, the order book and chart beside it.

the minimum deposit

The bridge has a minimum deposit of 5 USDC. Anything less is not credited and is lost. With an email login, under 5 USDC goes back to your email wallet, and only under 1 USDC is lost.

Sending a small amount first is still a good habit here; make it 5 USDC or more.

A native USDC deposit credits the account that sent it in less than 1 minute. If it has been an hour, the problem is not congestion.

if the balance is still zero

  1. Look at the address in the corner of the app. That is the account. A separate wallet is a separate account with its own zero balance, on any device.
  2. Compare the chain you sent on with the chain the deposit window requested. The wrong chain is the most common form of this and it does not correct itself.
  3. Verify the amount against the 5 USDC floor.
  4. If you sent a non-USDC asset, check your spot balances instead of your perp balance. It came in as that asset, not as collateral.
Sub-accounts and vaults are separate accounts.

The clearinghouse treats them as independent, which is also why referral discounts do not apply to them. If you deposited to the master account and you are looking at a sub-account, both numbers are correct and neither is what you wanted.

Trading on Hyperliquid is gas-free. The gas you pay is on the source chain, getting the funds to the bridge. If a page tells you to keep ETH on Hyperliquid for gas, it is describing a different venue.

After your first deposit is when the referrals page takes a code: with nothing deposited, its Enter Code window shows only a "Need to Deposit" button. the hyperliquid referral covers the rest.

If you're setting up a new account, the link below is our referral link. A code can also go on through the referrals page.

Open Hyperliquid code APEBRIEF

Using this code takes 4% off your Hyperliquid fees for your first $25M of volume, which trading without a code does not. We get a commission from Hyperliquid, which helps support our work, at no extra cost to you. We might add tools for people who used our code.

Tapping the button puts APEBRIEF on your clipboard and opens Hyperliquid. Where the signup shows a code field, paste it there.

Enter a code on the referrals page or arrive by link, per the docs. What that page shows once a code is set, and whether it applies to an account that already traded, is not something we have seen yet.
