# lighter fees: free on standard, and what costs money

Lighter charges Standard accounts 0% maker and 0% taker on perps and spot. RFQ, Chase, Iceberg and TWAP orders cost 0.01% on Standard, Plus charges 0.005%, and Premium starts at 0.0040% maker and 0.0280% taker. Limit and market orders on Standard are free, and that's the account you get unless you pick another.

Plus's 0.005% is what Lighter calls 0.5 bps. Premium comes down as you stake LIT, from 2.5% off at 1,000 LIT to 30% off at 500,000 LIT, counted across your main account and its sub-accounts. Which account suits you is its own page: [lighter standard vs plus vs premium](/lighter/account-types/).

On Premium the lever is maker. Set Post-Only on a limit order and Lighter only places it as a maker order; if it would cross the book, Lighter cancels it instead of filling it as taker.

## the advanced-order fee

After your first deposit, Lighter shows a one-time "New fees for advanced order types" window. Sign it (Agree & Sign) and RFQ, Chase, Iceberg and TWAP turn on at 0.01% on Standard, 0.005% on Plus. Regular limit and market orders stay free either way.

## the free premium week
